Mr. Roberto Bonseñor is a proud Latino, raised in New York City since he was 9 years old. He earned his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Boricua College, NY. Through his years of study and as a Second Language Learner (SLL) he developed a strong passion to teach second language learner like himself. Therefore, he pursued his graduate degree from the University of Miami majoring in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) with an emphasis in Reading K-12. His education continued by obtaining his Certificate of Advance Study in leadership and acquiring his New York state certification in School Building Leader and School District Leader.
Mr. Bonseñor enjoyed his teaching years at the elementary grades in Brooklyn, Bronx, and North Miami prior to beginning his leadership career. His career continued into administration in a K-8 setting as Assistant Principal in a K-8 administrator in the Bronx, NY and in St. Lucie County, Florida. Several years later he became a principal. He held the role as a principal for more than a decade in both in a K-5 and K-8 schools. Prior to joining the DoDEA, he spent 7+ year in an elementary, K-5 school, where he grew a strong culture while moving the school high B rated school and earning a high rating as a Positive Behavior & Intervention School (PBIS).
Mr. Bonseñor always puts students first when strategically planning for academic performance. He believes that every child can and will learn in a well-structured setting accompanied by routines, rituals, and procedures and given the opportunity to flourish in such caring and nurturing environment. He keeps in mind that if children do not learn the way we teach, we will need to readjust to teach the way they learn.
